Daley|I use this book as a reference reviewing certain Popes then going to more extensive evaluations from multiple sources. I believe the author is a non-Catholic but he takes a historical approach sprinkled with his own bias towards holiness over authority. Numbered amoung the great Popes are Gregory I, Benedict 14, and John XXIII.
